The crucifixion sponge and Jesus. The written study contains notes and 8 Jpeg images regarding the two soaked sponges offered to Jesus as he hung on the cross. A Roman soldier offered the first sponge attached to a stick. This sponge was disgusting and Jesus refused to drink from it. The second sponge was hastily offered by a "bystander." This sponge was attached to a branch of hyssop. Jesus drank from this sponge. Why did Jesus refuse one sponge and accept the other? This question is answered in the notes.
